Dr. Clayton T. Parks
Dr. Clayton T. Parks is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, Master’s of Science and Certificate in Orthodontics. Board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics in 2005, Dr. Parks enjoys treating children, adolescents and adults. He has special interests in more cosmetic treatment methods (Invisilign®, etc.), orthognathic surgery, temporary implant achorage and temporomandibulardysfunction.
Dr. Parks stays abreast of the latest advances in orthodontics with memberships in local and national organizations, including the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics, Midwest Society of Orthodontics, Iowa Society of Orthodontics, Iowa Dental Association, University District Dental Society and the Linn County Dental Society.
Dr. Parks and his wife, Kim, have two children, John and Lindsay. In his spare time, he enjoys biking, running, fishing, riding horses, skiing, landscaping, traveling and spending time with his family.
Dr. Jason Schmit
Dr. Jason Schmit was born and grew up in Austin, Minnesota. While he attended undergraduate college at the University of Minnesota, Morris, he was named to the Academic All-American Golf Team.
In 1998, Dr Schmit graduated from the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry, with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. He earned the highest academic honor by being elected into OKU. He then completed his master's degree and earned a Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Iowa in 2000.
Since then Dr. Schmit has practiced orthodontics in Cedar Rapids and Marion and is proud to be Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Schmit is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontics, Midwest Society of Orthodontics, Iowa Society of Orthodontics, and Iowa Dental Association. He recently became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and is a Board Member of the Linn County Dental Society.
Dr. Schmit and his wife, Kelly, are proud parents of their three sons Matthew, Ryan and Jacob. Away from his practice you will find Dr. Schmit spending time with his family or on the golf course.
Dr. Karin Southard
Dr. Karin Southard is a graduate of Ohio State University and a dental graduate of the Medical College of Virginia. She served as a dental officer in the United States Navy after completing advanced general practice training at Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
Karin completed her orthodontic residency at Northwestern University. From 1990 until 2008, while at the University of Iowa Department of Orthodontics, she has maintained a busy practice, conducted orthodontic research, published numerous articles in the orthodontic literature, spoken regionally and nationally, and educated over 90 orthodontists.
Dr. Southard is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is active in numerous professional organizations including Iowa Society of Orthodontists, the Midwest Society of Orthodontists, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the American Dental Association.
